- coral_sageThis place over in Youanmen has been around for years and it's the kind of family-style spot locals keep going back to. The space is big and bright, nothing fancy but super comfortable. The star of the show is definitely the shrimp pot — the shrimp are seriously huge, butterflied really cleanly, and if you go with the non-spicy or mild fragrant broth the sweetness of the shrimp really comes through. The potatoes and corn in the pot soak up all that flavor and get nice and tender, and the free hand-pulled noodles are kinda the hidden gem — once they've absorbed the broth they're so chewy and good. The self-serve condiment bar has a ton of options, and they keep the watermelon, shredded tofu and other snacks and fruit restocked pretty consistently. Service has always been really warm and attentive, but heads up — parking out front is a nightmare, definitely take the subway or just grab a taxi. Overall the value is awesome, perfect for bringing family or friends for a filling, satisfying shrimp feast.
