- Riley_12Okay so I actually stumbled onto this place by accident and wow, I'm kinda mad at myself for not knowing about it sooner. It's the Guantan Art Museum up on the top floor of the old Hongqiao Market, and the whole thing is like art meets hangout spot meets social space all rolled into one. Pretty cool concept honestly. The absolute best part? The view of the Temple of Heaven. Like, you are literally looking right out over it. I went around sunset and I swear it was one of those moments where you just stop and stare. The daytime view is gorgeous and the nighttime view with all the lights is super pretty too, but sunset? Sunset was the move. Fair warning though — that 5-6pm slot fills up FAST because everyone wants to catch sunset AND the lit-up Temple of Heaven afterward. Definitely reserve ahead, don't be like me almost missing it. Inside the museum itself the layout is really well done. They've got spaces for meetings, exhibitions, little cultural talks, all kinds of stuff. It's not just pretty to look at, you actually leave feeling like you learned something too. Big recommend from me. Oh and the gift shop area? It's basically every cultural/creative souvenir you could ever want all in one place. I went a little overboard honestly lol.
