  This Shanhetun iron pot stew place is seriously legit Northeast Chinese food in Beijing. We tried their signature catfish pot and the big goose pot and both were so worth it — the fish was super tender and flavorful, and the goose was a huge portion, just falling off the bone. The side ingredients are where it's at though, especially the dried green beans, dried potatoes, and glass noodles. Oh my god, the noodles soaking up all that broth? Absolute perfection. The whole vibe is super Northeast-style with big, bold decor, great for photos or a group dinner with coworkers — really lively and fun atmosphere. One heads up though, since they make everything on the spot you'll be waiting a while, so definitely call ahead to save yourself some time. The servers (shou, ning, and the others) were all super friendly and actually helped us pick what to order. Flavor-wise I have zero complaints, but it is a bit pricey per person — like, it's the kinda spot I'd come back to for a treat with friends every now and then, not an everyday kinda place.
