- oafish_stingrayHonestly this Black Pearl spot on the Bund totally lives up to its rep as one of the top hotpot places in Shanghai. The gold medal lobster broth base is a must-order — super rich and flavorful, and when you cook the wagyu No.1 and snowflake beef in it, it literally melts in your mouth. The deep sea leopard coral grouper was also so fresh, nice and firm but silky at the same time. The one-on-one service was such a nice touch, the staff actually helped us cook everything at the table so we didn't mess it up lol. The vibe is super elegant and private, perfect for date night or an anniversary — they even helped decorate our table which was a sweet surprise. Make sure you book ahead though, and bonus they stay open past 11pm so it's a solid late night spot too. All in all, from the atmosphere to the ingredients to the service, it's totally worth the price tag and the hype.
