  This Huizhou-style spot near Gulou Street is awesome. Walking in feels like stepping back in time — white walls, dark tiles, super atmospheric lighting, really beautiful setup. The food was honestly a highlight. The stinky mandarin fish is a must-order, firm texture with that funky fermented smell that goes crazy well with rice. The fermented tofu was crispy outside, soft inside, dipped in the sauce it was so good. The "Hu Shi" hotpot was packed with ingredients and had a rich broth, perfect for sharing. Service was on point, food came out fast, and they even walked us through the dishes. We were a group of four and grabbed the set menu which was a great deal — came with squab, beef offal hotpot, greens, basically nothing disappointed. Honestly perfect for hanging out with friends or a family dinner. Book ahead though, especially on weekend nights, the private rooms fill up fast.
