It's an old courtyard-style building from the Qing dynasty that was originally set up by people from Changshu as a kind of meeting hall for folks from their hometown. The architecture is super interesting — the bones of a classic northern courtyard house, but with little touches of Jiangnan style worked in. Super symmetrical layout, really orderly, and you can see how the building mixes northern structure with southern details. Walking through the gray brick and wood, you can just feel all that history around you. Definitely worth a quick stop if you're into old Beijing culture.
