- frosty_galagoGot there around 11:30 and it was still pretty quiet, but by almost noon people started trickling in. I grabbed a solo set meal and honestly the portion was super generous. Came with eel paste, stir-fried greens, a mushroom soup, plus fruit and some Suzhou-style snacks. The kitchen is right there doing everything in the open which is cool, and the whole vibe felt really nice and elegant, perfect for hanging out with friends. The greens in the set were seriously good, super fresh and crunchy but not tough at all. The eel paste you can tell was made with real care, and compared to eel rice I think the eel paste actually has way more depth to the flavor. Eat it with the ginger shreds on top and it's honestly amazing. The mushroom soup had a bunch of chicken pieces in it too, cooked till they're falling apart and soaked in flavor. Broth itself was clean, none of that weird artificial taste, everything tasted fresh and the color, smell, all of it was on point. You can really feel the quality and craftsmanship of a place that's been around forever here.
