- Pat_10So I came to Xibei (Western-style noodle chain) for the first time after all the hype died down and honestly... wow, what a letdown. Like, the gap between what it used to be and now is honestly unreal. Let me start with the food. The lamb skewers were kinda ridiculous — only the middle was actually hot, the rest was lukewarm and kinda had a weird off smell. I asked for no scallions and no garlic, but they still kept showing up in stuff, even dishes that were supposedly cooked fresh?? Like come on. To make up for it the staff gave us two cans of yogurt, which was... nice I guess? But still. Then there was this whole mess with the menu. They said they had no paper menu and no wifi to scan a code, so I had to ask like twice before someone finally handed me a pad. Why not just give me the pad in the first place?? Oh and the sour cabbage braised pork ribs (酸菜烩肋排) — there was a TON of regular pork belly in there. Like, way more than there should've been. That was wild. The one saving grace? The rou jia mo (meat sandwich / pork burger thing) was actually really good. Fluffy bread, juicy filling, super tasty. Honestly not sure if I'll be back. Everything happens for a reason I guess... ugh.
