Came this time mainly for Beijing's newest coaster: Jungle Roller Coaster, a Jinma mine train that opened just the day before. But we started with Snowy Golden Wings. This Vekoma SLC is one of the park's oldest coasters — running since opening day, one of only two still operating. Funny thing is, I'd never actually ridden it. Every time I came, it was closed. Honestly, SLCs aren't exactly ride-or-die experiences if you miss one — you know the deal, they're everywhere, and the reputation is… let's just say "not great." But leaving it unchecked always bugged me. Snowy Golden Wings? Best compliment I can give is "smoother than most of its kind." But "smoother" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. It still rattles — and for my broad shoulders, that thick over-the-shoulder restraint was a precision strike, my arms got pummeled the whole way. Whatever, it's fine. Not worth posting about, but I walked away in one piece — which by SLC standards counts as a win. Then came the main event. Then I crested a bridge and got the answer — a second train just sitting there idle, right next to the old Jungle Coaster's empty plot (demolished last winter). Would it kill them to run an extra train on opening weekend? Let the new ride have its moment? At least let me stand in the shade. The line had one perk though — unique photo angles. My girlfriend (who rode the old version) pointed out that the new one lost a lot of the old scenery, track structure exposed, looking kind of bare. Hopefully they'll fill it in over time. Good news: the coaster itself is solid! Spaci...
