The Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall, located in Huai'an, Jiangsu Province, is a solemn and dignified cultural sanctuary dedicated to commemorating Zhou Enlai—a distinguished leader of the Communist Party of China and the first Premier of the People's Republic of China. The memorial complex harmoniously blends traditional Suzhou-style garden aesthetics with modern exhibition architecture; its grey-tiled roofs and blue-brick walls exude historical gravitas. In the bronze statue plaza, Zhou Enlai stands resolutely in a Zhongshan suit, his gaze seemingly transcending time and space, conveying his unwavering devotion to the nation.
The core exhibition area comprises two sections: the Former Residence and the Biography Exhibition Hall. Zhou Enlai’s former residence has been meticulously preserved, featuring original wooden latticed windows and intricately carved furniture, while its weathered walls bear silent witness to the revolutionary era. The Biography Exhibition Hall presents a sweeping panorama of Zhou Enlai’s extraordinary life—from his student days at Nankai and his work-study period in France, through his leadership in revolution, to his lifelong dedication to public service—through over 3,000 artifacts, more than 300 photographs and audiovisual materials, and advanced multimedia technologies. Among the most moving exhibits are his handwritten manuscript "My Personal Code of Conduct" and diplomatic notebooks, whose words vividly reflect the moral integrity and spiritual fortitude of a Communist.
Huai'an, where Zhou Enlai spent his formative school years, embodies his original aspiration—"to study for the rise of China." A special thematic exhibition, "Zhou Enlai and Huai'an," utilizes local archival documents and authentic objects to illustrate the profound bond between this great statesman and his hometown. Evergreen pines and cypresses encircling the memorial, together with the inscription "Former Residence of Comrade Zhou Enlai," stand as quiet testaments to his immortal spirit of selfless devotion—"working tirelessly until his last breath.
